Silence
I went to sleep last night in lonely silence. I had the snoring of the dog and gentle snoring of my spouse. But the voices in my head were silent, nowhere to be found. I like to fall asleep listening to my characters narrate their lives. I like to take them in new directions, expose them to new things.
Last night they were silent. I was lonely. Falling asleep was not nearly as fun.
